Overview

Dehook is a browser extension that filters your YouTube and Reddit feeds locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any user data.

Data collection

Dehook does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

No browsing history is collected or transmitted
No account information is accessed or stored remotely
No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind
No cookies are set by the extension

Local processing

All filtering happens entirely on your device. Video titles and post text are analyzed locally using either a built-in browser AI model (WebLLM) or a locally-installed AI model (Ollama). No content ever leaves your computer for processing.

Storage

Dehook uses Chrome's local storage API to save your preferences (blocked topics, keywords, channels, and settings). This data stays on your device and is never sent to any server.

Permissions

Dehook requests access to YouTube and Reddit pages solely to read video titles and post text on your local feed for filtering purposes. No data is modified on these platforms and no information is sent externally.

Network requests

Dehook makes two optional network requests, both local or to YouTube itself:

YouTube oembed API — When YouTube auto-translates a video title, Dehook fetches the original title from YouTube's public oembed endpoint. This sends the video ID to youtube.com (where you're already browsing). No other data is sent.
Ollama (optional) — If you choose the Ollama backend, Dehook connects to your own locally-running Ollama instance at localhost. This never leaves your machine.

No data is sent to any third-party services, analytics platforms, or external servers.

Website

The dehook.ai website is a static HTML page with no analytics, cookies, or tracking scripts. We do not collect any data through the website.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
